LATEST NEWS - Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 Jack Wells receives England 'A' call up After a missing out on representing the Penine Pumas at the recent GB Super League, Belper 1st XI player, Jack Wells, has been rewarded with a shock England 'A' call up for this coming weekend. As the Royal Navy prepare for their 100 years of hockey, they will take on an England 'A' squad including Jack. The game is to be played on Saturday 4th July 2009 in Portsmouth, 2.30pm start. Hopefully this can be a springboard for Jack to progress further on the international stage and we wish him all the best. Ben Lambs winning stag team! With Ben Lamb's wedding only a few weeks away, his 'stag do' was spent at the Beeston 6's hockey tournament where in between drinking, dancing and having fun his team played a bit of hockey and won the tournament / festival! Click here for details... Men 1XI announce pre-season training Belper Men's 1XI are set to return to training on Saturday 4th July 2009, at Belper Meadows 2pm till 4pm. Players with aspirations of playing for the 1XI squad for season 2009/2010 are invited to attend. Click here for details... Joe Sharp travels to Ireland with England u16's Congratulations to fifteen year old Joe Sharp who travelled with the England u16 boys team last weekend to play three games against Ireland. He has further matches against Germany July 6th -10th and the home nations tournament July 21st -24th. Junior girls and boys Summer Hockey Camp Following the huge success of the Slazenger Summer Hockey Camp last summer Ben Lamb has now set the date for this years camp - Monday 10th to Friday 14th August, 2009. Boys U13's finish fourth at Mini Hockey Finals It was a fourth place finish for Belper U13 boys at the National Mini-hockey finals at Highfields, Nottingham on Sunday 17th May. It's been a great season for all the players, coaches and supporters - congratulations to them all. Click here for details... Ladies 1XI complete a superb season Belper Ladies 1XI completed their superb season with a 2-0 away win at Doncaster with goals from Louise Boddy and Lucy Horn, a creditable third place finish in Slazenger National League Division North. Congratulations to the squad of players, joint managers Joan Passant and Jackie Sharp and especially coach Tim Barlow.
