2011/12 Pre-Season Newsletter – July 2011
We hope you are all well and enjoying the summer so far. After a number of changes to the Ladies management and coaching structure we are pleased to announce that the new team are in place for the Girls for next season and raring to go.
We would all like to say a huge thank you to Jackie Sharp and Joan Passant and to all the people that have helped run the Girls section over the last few years. Also a massive thanks to Tim Barlow for the coaching he has provided. The Girls have been very successful over the years winning national indoor and outdoor titles and it is certainly the desire of the club to continue to support the development of Junior players to as high a level as possible.

Next Season
Looking ahead to next season, we are delighted that Wayne Madsen has agreed to be our Head Coach for both the Ladies and Junior sections. Wayne helped coach both sections last season so is familiar with our set up. For those of you who do not know Wayne, he won 39 caps as a midfield player for South Africa, playing in the 2006 World Cup in Mönchengladbach, Germany, and the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. Immensely talented at both cricket and hockey, he settled on cricket, signing for Derbyshire in 2009.
Wayne will plan and lead the coaching sessions (once the cricket season is over mid September) and will be assisted by Junior section coaches. Wayne will also be the team coach for the Under 18 girls. For the Goalkeepers we plan to bring in a specialist goalkeeper coach.
We have entered teams in the England Hockey Junior outdoor competitions at Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 and at Under 16 and 18 for the indoor competition.

Training
U14 Girls 6.00pm - 7.30pm Wednesday's starting on September 7th 2011
U16/U18 6.00pm - 7.30pm will start on Thursday's starting on September 8th 2011
The training nights are as follows:
Wednesdays 6.00 to 7.30: Under 14 girls, beginners, and Goalkeepers for whom we are looking to appoint a specialist goalkeeper coach.
Thursdays 6.00 to 7.30: Under 16 and Under 18 girls.
For those Under 16s and 18s who are playing on a Saturday for a Ladies side then they will be able to train with their respective Ladies side on a Wednesday which is Ladies club training night. In this way the Under 16 and 18 players will get two training sessions a week..

Registration Form
Click here to download a registration form, please fill this in and bring it to the first training session. Joanne Rogers will be posting out the subs and training fees to you seperately. Please make sure you fill in both the registration form and the subs form.

Outdoor
We have entered the England Hockey Under 14, 16 and 18 competitions. We also are in the process of arranging a number of friendly fixtures so the teams get used to playing together. More details will follow as the fixtures are confirmed.

Indoor
We have entered the Under 16 and 18 England Hockey indoor competition again and Belper Sports Centre and Repton Sports Hall have already been booked for training in late November, December and January.
Selection for the indoor squads will take place nearer the time.

Summer Hockey Camp 2011
Ben Lamb will once again be running his very popular Summer Hockey Camp from Monday15th August to Friday 19th August 2011 for boys and girls aged 8 to 14. Full details and an application form can be downloaded from the club website.

Tours
We may have the opportunity to participate again in the Valkenswaard international hockey festival in Holland over Easter. This is for the Under 16’s and is a very high standard. The Boys section are planning to go this year as well. We will be issuing invitations for this Tour in September.

Fees
The fees for next season are as follows:
Basic subscription fee is £25.
For those players playing regularly on a Saturday as well as in their age group the subscription fee is £70.
Training Fee is £3.50 per session.
Indoor fees to be advised
Player registration forms will be sent out at the beginning of the season.
