Season 2009-10 Newsletter
By Nick Morris (Belper Men's Hockey Club Secretary) Email: mozza6@tiscali.co.uk

Welcome
Welcome to new and old members as we approach the beginning of a new Hockey season. Much has been happening on and off the pitch over the summer months. A number of changes have materialised and here we hope to put everyone in the picture.

Subscriptions
The Belper Meadows Sports Club (BMSC) system is in place to support the club in the collection of subscriptions. The time and cost to the club and officials in chasing members for payment has been unacceptable and it is up to individuals to do their part and support the club and those who help run it. This season all present playing members are required to complete a Subscription Renewal Form, which will be distributed during the first couple of weeks in September through team captains or downloaded from the website, and forward it with payment to the Treasurer Paul Greensmith. New playing members must complete a BMSC Membership Application Form (including £10 joining fee) and Subscription Form with Payment.
A copy of both forms is available here to view: Belper Mens Hockey Club Subscription and Membership Forms
Once subs have been paid then a numbered Membership Card will be issued through the BMSC Management Committee for this year. These cards should be carried and used to allow you to access all the facilities on site. Non-members should be signed into the visitor’s book on the Bar as usual.
All playing members are responsible for paying before Sunday 4th October 2009. Members who have failed to do this will become ineligible for matches following this date.

Senior/Adult - £99 (No discounted rate)
Student - £79
U18 (1st Jan 2009) - £59
U16 (1st Jan 2009) - £53
Family Membership – Full adult plus half for each child
Non-playing (Social) Member - £10
Please make cheques payable to: Belper Hockey Club

Coaching
We are delighted that Ben Lamb continues as 1st XI Head Coach for season 2009/2010 following a successful second year in charge helping stabilise and develop the 1XI and wider club.
Steve Mills continues as Manager and Nick Morris comes back into the EHL Liaison role to help with the administration & generally co-ordinate things.
Paul Lawrence is continuing to work with Ben and the junior set up and will help coach and provide a structure to the 2nd XI training so badly missed last season.
Quality Club coaching is vital if we are to provide enjoyable sessions and opportunities to develop. We hope to provide this for all players of all ages. We are working to provide quality coaching at all levels. David Ross will lead club training on Monday nights.

It is also important we keep the website updated with information and captains are encouraged to make sure this happens.

DTZ Midland League Fixtures begin on Saturday 3rd October 2009.
The intention this year is to help keep all members up to date with all teams’ fixtures and results by placing them on a notice board in the clubhouse.
It is also important we keep the website updated with information and captains are encouraged to make sure this happens.

Juniors
We have to make an effort to complete all BMSC Membership Application Forms for all our junior players who have not completed them. That means during September we need to distribute and collect the new forms to all junior players at Training sessions. It is a legal requirement we have these details on file and we must make every effort to do it. There is no joining fee.

Selection/Committee Meeting
The first selection meeting of the season will be held on Wednesday 26th August @ 8pm as part of a committee meeting. Selection will then follow in future weeks at 9pm in the BMSC clubhouse each Tuesday after training, unless a committee meeting is to be held that week.

Shirts (BHC 1908-2008)
Only a few left! BHC Centenary Shirts have been produced and all members are encouraged to be seen supporting the club and wearing them with pride while helping to promote our club.

BHC Dinner Dance 2010
Thank you to all those members who attended our end of season celebration in May. However, total numbers were disappointing and hopefully we can help rectify this by organising things a little earlier this season!?

Events
We encourage members to support events held throughout our centenary season and if anyone wishes to run an event then we are more than happy to help them.

I wish all members an extremely enjoyable and successful centenary season. Play nicely!

Mozza
