Belper HC success for juniors and minis:
U14 Girls
On Sunday the U14 girls took part in the Ashby end of season tournament, with so much enthusiasm and commitment we were able to enter 2 teams. All the girls worked very hard and played well in unusually warm weather for hockey!
The A team kept the tension levels high as they drew their semi final against Leicester Ladies and the match went to penalty flicks. Belper kept their nerve with both great flicks and tremendous saves and moved onto playing Lichfield in the final (a repeat of the Burton tournament a few weeks before, which we won).
Keeping our blood pressures high, they again drew a very close match in the final and went straight into more penalty flicks. Further tension followed and Belper were victorious, showing great mental strength.
Well done girls.

U12 Boys:
On Sunday the Belper boys also entered the U12 section of the Ashby tournament. This mixed U10 and U12 squad won all 4 of their pool matches to go into the semi-finals as pool winners to meet old rivals Burton. A tightly fought game ended in a draw and was eventually decided by some well taken penalty flicks and some great saves from our excellent keeper.
The final against Leicester was an exciting end to end game which resulted in a much deserved 3-2 victory to Belper!
Well done boys – you played really well as a team and thoroughly deserved your success.
