The U12 girls made it through to the In2 Hockey Regional Tournament held at Highfields on Sunday 19th April. The squad consisted of Zarah Hobday, Jess Carter, Lily Morris, Olivia Schmidt, Lauren Ford, Sasha Worth, Esme Calder, Poppy Brown and Connie Magill
The girls had been practising very hard in the run up to the tournament which paid off on the day. After a tentative start the girls found their feet winning 2 games, drawing 2 and losing 2 which saw them through to the play offs for positions 4th/5th in the group.
Unfortunately they came up against their nemesis Beeston and lost 2-0 which left them in 7th position out of 14. However it was great to see them in the competition and the squad really enjoyed their day and deserved to be there. They have matured over the last 12 months and are a solid squad who will hopefully progress as they gain in experience.
Many thanks to coach, Dan Ford and manager, Emma Williams for all their hard work and to all parents for their support in transporting the girls around during week day evenings and weekends! Thanks also to Roger Carter who stepped in at the last moment to umpire several of the other games.
Finally huge congratulations to the U12 boys squad for making it through to the Nationals!
