It is with much sadness that we have heard of the sad loss of Irene Bestwick, who died on Saturday 24th October 2015 at Spencer Grove Nursing Home in Belper aged 90.
Mrs Bestwick or ‘Mrs B’ as she was known to many at the hockey club was a longstanding member of the Hockey Club, joining from the old Strutts school, spending many years playing at the club and for Derbyshire, where she was also the Secretary for over 20 years, remaining a supporter of the club until approx. 3 years ago when her failing health no longer allowed her to attend matches.
She was a familiar figure who was known by many at the club and had four children, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren who have all played or are still playing at the club.
The funeral will be held at Breadsall Village Church, on Thursday 12th November 2015 at 12.30pm with ‘old style’ hockey teas in the Village Hall afterwards, with all very welcome to attend.

Irene is pictured second from the right on the front row as part of the Derbyshire team in 1951 and a more recent photo shows her as more club members will remember.
