U10 Girls

U10 Girls

The U10 girls maintained their winning streak against tough opposition at Sundays  Ashby HC Annual tournament. Playing fellow Midlands finalists Beeston and Leicester in the group stages they still managed to finish first in their group on goal difference, moving on to beat Ashby 4-0 in the semi-final and Beeston 3-0 in the final. Well-done girls, great hockey.

U14 Girls

U14 Girls

The U14 Girls came third! Great end to the season!

After a great win at the Burton tournament a few weeks earlier the girls came to Ashby in a positive frame of mind. Chloe stepped in as goalkeeper and did not disappoint. Esme and Ella were a formidable force in defence whilst Poppy ably assisted by various mid fielders ensured the ball was kept in Belper Goal end. Matches were tight and Belper went into their final game needing to win. Unfortunately this was against Beeston who had the advantage of experience playing their National U14 squad. Beeston won the game. This left Belper in third place (ahead of Beeston) on Goal Difference behind Burton and Litchfield. A great end to the season!

U14 Boys

U14B

The U14 boys finished first in the Ashby’s Annual hockey club tournament on Sunday. Playing Beeston in the first match, we started slowly but goalkeeper Matt Broadhead kept us in it making 7 fantastic saves against some superb shots from the Beeston team. This spurred the team on , and they found their feet and scored just before half-time with a well taken goal from Sam Playdon. The boys started the second half looking like a different team, and went on to score 3 more goals (Archie Vaughan, Sam Cooke, Will Selby), conceding 2. Final score 4-2. We played Loughborough town next. Their GK kept us at bay for a good 5 mins, despite shots firing in from everywhere. However, the team remained patient, worked out where they needed to aim shots and went on to score 5 goals (Archie Vaughan 4 and Elliot Heath 1). Final score 5-0. Our final match against Ashby proved tough, despite having the majority of possession we struggled to find space in attack as Ashby played defensively. Ashby had a couple of fast breaks and scored from one. The game then opened up a bit, the boys didn’t give up and battled until the end and were rewarded with a goal coming from Archie Vaughan in the final minute. The boys finished top to claim the overall title. Great hockey from all teams.

U12 Boys

U12 Boys Ashby

U12 Boys came third at Ashby on Sunday beating Burton 3-1 on the way, but losing 2-1 in a very even game to eventual winners Beeston. Had SAT NAV not directed almost half of the Squad to another location, who knows we might have won the first two games rather than drawn them. Once they had bonded and warmed up they were unstoppable-Great tournament and day out!!! It’s been a real pleasure to manage all the U12 boys this season!!!      Graham.

And finally……. Juniors mums played this weekend too….

Midlands Masters Girls
