On 22 February olympic gold medallist Hollie Pearne-Webb – now a married lady – returned to Belper again. She joined in exercises with the little stars, talked to and encouraged the older junior players and told of how she started hockey “at this end of the pitch, with a borrowed stick”.
She posed for countless photographs and signed many sticks, balls, papers and even a defender’s face mask.
Some of the signed balls will be raffled – soon – raising money towards the new pavilion.
