To celebrate the completion of the new multi-sport pavilion, a hockey match was played between the Belper mens hockey President’s XI and the North of England XI, on Sunday 2 September.
The President’s team comprised those members who have all given many years of service to help the club, in so many different ways. This was a way of saying ‘Thank you’ to them.
In true international style, the teams posed for photographs, followed by the formal lines of handshakes – and with the game played in quarters.
Sadly for Belper, the North’s defence was really solid, whilst the 0-5 result showed that the President’s rearguard was not so.
The opponents and their many supporters were really impressed with all aspects of the new Belper pavilion, and the hospitality of the home club.
