Five Belper Under 14 girls were selected by Derbyshire to represent their county at the final tournament of the season-the Midlands championship.

After playing all the counties from the Midlands region including Shropshire, Northants, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire through the season a final squad of 15 players was selected to represent Derbyshire at the tournament held at Ratcliffe College in Leicestershire.

The five Belper Nailers players were selected from a group of fifty originally and made the final fifteen after displaying great skill and motivation to succeed in the friendliest through the season.

The team played well in the group stage winning two against Warwickshire and Worcestershire and drawing against Nottinghamshire who were the eventual winners.

In the semi final they played Staffordshire and found themselves in a hard fought physical and mental challenge- defending valiantly for the majority of the game but eventually losing out 2-0.

The Belper Nailers Hockey club had the highest representation in the final fifteen of all clubs in Derbyshire who had players selected and all the girls played their part in a success that saw Derbyshire finish with the Bronze medal after beating Leicestershire 3-0 in the medal play off.

The girls are pictured below with their medals.
