Belper 4s V Ilkeston- 6th Jan 2024
A beautiful sunny, but cold, morning led to a longer than usual warm up in an attempt to defrost the recently flooded pitch enabling us to face the difficult Ilkeston side, only 2 points behind us in the league.
Despite the Xmas food and the Xmas break making legs feel like lead, Wendy scored a lovely goal to put us in an early lead in 4 minutes. The rest of the half saw some creative passing, some delightful one-touch passes from Sally resulting in two more goals from Rachel and a vital assist from Grace.
3-0 up at half time and careful not to let the Xmas chocolates slow us down, we continued to play some superb hockey; cracking crosses from Hannah, crunching tackles from Suzy, Helen and Tallulah, dissecting hits from Emma, piercing runs through their defence from Charlie and Evie and some spectacular saves from Izzy- all leading to a brilliant 7-1 win.
Massive congratulations to our STAR player of the match, Rachel for her goal-scoring fest and to the whole team for such a great team performance!!
