Belper 4’s 3-2 Derby 2’s
A fabulous sunny morning at the Meadows saw Belper 4’s take on Derby 2’s, a game set to be tough and physical with Belper seeking to overturn a frustrating loss to the visitors earlier in the season.
Belper were in the game from the first whistle, creating lots of chances, moving the ball well. Within a few minutes of the game starting Belper went 1-0 up with a well slotted ball past the goalkeeper by Wendy.
Derby were already showing early signs of being somewhat ‘competitive’ in their approach, playing a very ‘hands on’ version of the game, seeking to help the umpires out with constant advice regarding the rules for most of the game. Belper kept their heads after Derby equalised and were able to take the lead again through a great pass from Lizzy to top goal squirrel Rachel to make it 2-1. Derby came back again and scored a cheeky goal, assisted somewhat by Hels bells. 🙈 But Belper could smell victory and some real determined defending along with relentless attacking saw Belper awarded a penalty corner, a sneaky 1-2 routine saw Rachel pass the ball to Sally who popped a little reverse shot into the bottom corner. Final result 3-2 to Belper!
Blooper-Grace for forgetting which side of the pitch she was playing on😂🙈
