Three former Belper hockey players have been selected in the Women’s squad for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games : Anna Toman, Hollie Pearne-Webb and Kathryn Lane. (‘Tis a shame that Sabbie Heesh is injured!) We wish them all good luck – so proud of what they are achieving!
Held on on Sunday 11 March, the under 10 girls event was won by Belper, with Repton being runner-up. In the other sections (ie under 10 boys and both under 12s) the placings were reversed. On 22 February olympic gold medallist Hollie Pearne-Webb – now a married lady – returned to Belper again. She joined in exercises with the little stars, talked to and encouraged the older junior players and told of how she started hockey “at this end of the pitch, with a borrowed stick”. Read more…

Two Belper players were once again called up for International duties this August at the IMHA European Cup tournament in Tilburg, Holland.
